01 / The brief
Make it as easy to order
as it is to be tempted.
The Sunday Bakehouse already had the ingredients for a memorable brand: distinctive bakes, appealing photography and Emilia’s personal story. The brief was to bring those strengths into an online shop with a clear commercial purpose.
Visitors needed to understand what they could buy, find their favourites and move confidently towards an order. Emilia needed a practical way to manage the catalogue behind that experience.
That meant considering the whole journey together: the first impression, the product details, the basket and the tools used to keep the shop up to date.

02 / The design
Personal by nature.
Purposeful by design.
Emilia’s brand grew from Sundays spent baking with her grandparents. The website needed to feel like an extension of that story.
Warm brown, cream and pink give the site its familiar character. Expressive type, hand-drawn details and a collage of real bakes make the homepage feel personal, with clear ordering buttons giving that first impression a direction.
Her story and customer Google reviews sit alongside the products. Together, they help visitors get to know the baker as well as the bakes.
Build confidence.
Make the next step clear.
03 / The shopping experience
From “that looks good”
to “that’s my box”.
A shop that starts with the bakes
Clear categories give cookies, brownies, cheesecakes and cinnamon rolls their own place. Product photography does the tempting; visible prices and box sizes help customers decide.
Room for a customer's favourites
Build-your-own boxes give customers a way to mix flavours. Product options sit within the buying journey, alongside the information needed to choose a bake.
The details before the decision
Dedicated product pages bring descriptions, ingredients and allergens together. Customers can explore what they are ordering before adding it to their basket.
A clear next step
The basket brings selected products, quantities and totals together, leading into checkout. Collection and delivery information stays part of the ordering experience.
04 / Checkout, payment & collection
Orders, payments and stock.
Connected.
Guest checkout with Stripe
Customers can order without creating an account. The checkout brings together their contact details, collection or delivery choice and order total, then uses Stripe to take payment. Confirmation emails give customers a record of their paid order.
Stock checked as part of the purchase
Stock is tracked against individual product options. The system checks availability and reserves the required quantities before completing payment, then reduces stock when the order is paid. This connects what customers can buy to the quantities available in the bakery.
Collection dates with bakery controls
Customers request an available collection date and time. The system applies a minimum notice period, weekly unavailable times and holiday dates, with the requested collection details carried through to the order for Emilia to manage.
Products also have collection and delivery settings, so fulfilment is controlled through the catalogue rather than assuming every bake can be posted.
05 / The bakery admin
Control over the catalogue.
Detail behind every order.
Products, options and pricing
Emilia can manage categories and products, set prices and stock for individual options, and configure the number of flavour choices in an assorted box. Products can be published or hidden as the range changes.
Photography and product information
Product editing includes images, descriptions, ingredients, allergens and collection or delivery information. Homepage featured products can be selected in the admin, giving Emilia control over which bakes get the spotlight.
Searchable order records
Orders can be searched by order number, customer name or email, then filtered by date, fulfilment method and status. Each order keeps the purchased items and customer details together for the work that follows payment.
Collection availability
A dedicated collections area supports the bakery’s schedule. Weekly unavailable times and holiday dates feed into the choices offered to customers, keeping the ordering journey connected to availability.
06 / Limited releases & enquiries
A monthly bake box.
Its own release system.
The Little Bake Box has a dedicated release journey for the bakery’s monthly selection. Release information brings the featured box, price, remaining availability and ordering deadline together, giving a limited batch its own place on the website.
The admin includes tools for managing these releases alongside the main catalogue. Each box is a one-off purchase, allowing customers to order a particular month’s selection without signing up to a subscription.
Separate routes for custom requests
Custom cupcakes and The Little Bake Cart have dedicated pages leading into enquiries. Customers can start a conversation about their celebration or event, while standard bake orders continue through the shop and checkout.
